Steven Slate VSX Headphones Review

Quick Overview

The VSX modeling headphones from Steven Slate Digital are designed to simulate different listening environments, allowing for precise control of the audio mix. They come with a core of rooms/typical spaces, whether it’s emulating a couple of different very popular headphones that many of us use, including one of the ones they emulated or a set of headphones that have been used for probably 12, 13 years, and they’ve held up all that time and work great. The headphones are designed to be used in a variety of situations, including in an apartment, in a space where it’s not effective to mix, in difficult situations, or while traveling.

When using the VSX headphones, the user can expect to experience high-quality audio tone, with every mix translating almost perfectly in every situation. The headphones are also designed to reduce ear fatigue, which can be a common problem when mixing audio. The user can expect to be able to listen to the audio at a lower volume, which is important for maintaining the health of their ears.

Recommendations

Steven Slate Audio VSX Headphones Platinum Edition: When we decided to make the purchase, we went ahead and bought the Platinum Edition for the purpose of having all the simulated rooms that Slate Digital has to offer. It is a little more pricey but it was well worth it! Each of our engineers has their own special room they love to mix in. Mine is the NRG Near-Field setting! The ability to have access to so many popular spaces including professional recording rooms, cars, industry-standard headphones, makes the Platinum Edition the perfect purchase for us! You are going to love them!

Steven Slate Audio VSX Essentials Edition: Although this package does not contain every simulated room that Slate Digital has to offer, it is the perfect starting point to learn what these headphones have to offer. Just to let you know, the physical headphones are exactly the same as the Platinum Edition, the only thing you are not getting are all the simulated room environments. The best part is that you can upgrade later if you need to!
